New User Guide for Thunderwalker CTF

New User Guide for Thunderwalker CTF

Thunderwalker is centered around capturing the flag. You get 15 points just for capturing the flag, points for defending the flag, killing enemy carrier, and more. [ twctf scoring overview ]

Powerups

  • To capture the flag you have to control the various powerups in the game though. You still have your standard quake powerups: Quad (4x damage), 666 pentagram, 100 health, and ring of shadows which are temporary. Along with green, yellow, and red armor.
  • The 2nd type of powerup are the runes which last until you die. [twctf runes overview]
  • In addition to the four 3wave runes, thunderwalker has four new runes
    Rune of Protection
    This rune offers several benefits:
  • Limited Immunity to "splash" damage. You take small damage from splash (ie, explosions)
  • Immunity to Slime and Drowning
  • Resistance to Lava
  • However your grapple will be reset if out when hit by splash.

  • Rune of Vampirism A person with this rune receives 2/3 the amount of damage they do added to their health to a maximum of 200 hitpoints. Health below 200 will not "rot" away.
  • Rune of Living Armor The person's armor is magically brought to life, and will repair itself over time to a maximum of 250 points. All subsequent armor touched after this rune is grabbed is red armor.

Rune of Cloaking A person with this rune is invisible, as if they had the Ring of Shadows, except when they fire their weapon or when they are damaged, during which time they become visible.

    Commands

  • Along with a faster and easier to aim grapple (impulse 22), there are several other cool features.

  • (impulse 199) have your own personal telaporter, once per life (Note: with resist rune you can survive a sniper hit)
  • (impulse 192) extra health stimpacks, 3 per life
  • (impulse 181) destory rune to pick up a new one, once per life
  • (impulse 20) ability to throw pack full of ammo of your selected weapon
  • (impulse 160) flares that will stick to walls, illuminating a small area
  • Here is a list of various impulses used by Quake specific to ThunderWalker CTF mod.
  • You can bind any impulse to a key using the following syntax.

    bind "x" "impulse 22"

X = whatever key you wish to bind

  • We have several sample configs on our site.

  • Weapons

The weapons are a little different from regular 3wave ctf too:

  • Sniper Rifle One shot. One kill. If you miss, you are a sitting duck though. (impulse 8) 5 shots per life
  • Airfist A nice defensive weapon that will help to deflect incoming fire and incoming baddies. Also will effect rockets, grenades, backpacks, and runes (impulse 47)
  • Shotgun MkII The shotgun has been retooled for faster firing. (impulse 3)
  • Laser Cannon Han Solo would be proud. A bright-red beam will burn your enemies into a well-done carcass. replaces nailgun (impulse 4)
  • Less-Emphasized Rocket Launcher The rocket launcher's damage has been decreased some to put a greater emphasis on skill, and less on getting a lucky shot. (impulse 7)
  • New Player Model A new player model was added in version 4.5. This player model allows players to 'explode' the head of enemies they snipe. Really cool.
